Q: What is your
labor rate?
A: Our labor rate is
$110.00 per hour. The rate also applies for travel time.
Q: Can you come to my boat?
A: Yes. We are based out of Sausalito and
can travel to San Rafael, Tiburon, Richmond, San Francisco and other Bay Area
ports, however we do charge travel time. We do have mobile service trucks
stocked with a sufficient inventory to tackle problems in the field, but we are
most effective and certainly most cost-effective in Sausalito. We can do
service and diagnostic work in the field. However, if you need major repairs we
will probably require your vessel to be at our docks or in Sausalito. We also
have a tow boat if your vessel can not run under its own power.
Q: What do you include in a standard
service and how much do you charge?
A: In the course of a service we will change
the engine oil, oil filter, transmission oil, fuel filter (primary and secondary
as needed), check cooling water system (impeller, sea strainer, etc), batteries,
charging system, exhaust and related components, belts and stuffing box. Each
service is billed on a time and materials basis and varies depending on your
engine model, parts availability, boat type, location and access to your boat.
Q: Do I have to be there for you to work
on my boat?
A: No - you do not have to be at the boat
for us to complete our work. In fact, jobs that provide flexible access to
the vessel are processed in a more timely fashion than those who require
multiple steps to acquire access to the boat.
Q: Can I make an appointment if I do want
to be there?
A: Yes, however appointments are difficult
to make. Each job called in falls in line and is taken sequentially.
Appointment requests are processed in the line and then once your “turn” comes
up we can call you and set up a date and time for your appointment, however we
really appreciate flexibility and can usually process your job more
expeditiously with access to your boat.
Q: Do you service other engines besides
Yanmar?
A: Yes. We service all makes and models.
Our inventory primarily supports Yanmar; however we stock service parts for most
model engines including Universal, Westerbeke, Perkins, Atomic 4 and some
Caterpillar and Cummins.
Q: Do you work on outboards?
A: No. Sorry!
Q: Do you work on
out drives or stern drives?
A: No, these applications require the vessel
be out of the water and we do not have the facilities to lift boats out of the
water.
